I have seen the apocalypse
I have seen the end
I have seen the disaster
That is just around the bend
I have felt the fire
I have smelt the smoke
I’ve witnessed the bubbling lava
As the desolation is stoked
I have seen the darkness
The void when nothing remains
I’ve felt the chill of emptiness
In a once flourishing place
That place was my heart
After life had ravaged it
It was a thriving garden
Now it’s an ash pit
I saw my dreams
Slowly shrivel away
My blooming flowers of thought
Succumbing to the decay
I marked the loss
A gravestone in my heart
Attended the funerals
Joined the casket march
I went to candle-lit vigils
Draped myself in black
But underneath my hood
Was stirring a mighty comeback
In this loss
Structures were torn down
Towers of pride and greed
Were pulled to the ground
An apocalypse to me
Is an opportunity to God
The end of the road
A place to take off
In the fiery furnace
That consumes all that I know
The little that remains
Is perfect for Him to mould
He will rebuild my heart
Speak into the dark
And turn what I thought was my end
Into a brand-new start
Apocalypse
