Dawn & Dusk

The pain in me is searing
I feel it in my chest
A blade of pure misery
Carved from cruel intent

The pain batters my mind
Like waves on an isolated rock
My brain shuts down
It can’t take the shock

But these painful hurts
Are cries within me
I need to listen to them
If I am to be free

Acknowledge the trauma
Show myself I care
Accept all parts of me
Accept that they are there

Pain is not the enemy
Just a sign to heed
