Write a poem
Hide it in your heart
Read it to yourself
As the skies grow dark
Engrave the wretched words
Onto a small, smooth stone
Put it in your pocket
Take it everywhere you go
Hide the words away
Lock them in a journal
Gather up the embers
Feed that inner inferno
Let the storm brew inside
Until it swells into a tempest
Gather up the fragments
And store them in a treasure chest
Those dark words
Those bitter phrases
Will act as a reminder
As the weather changes
When the sun pierces
That sheet of dense cloud
And an array of precious jewels
Can now be found
You will remember
How far you’ve come
You won’t take for granted
All the good that’s been done
You will drink in every moment
Bask in every sun ray
Dance at every good thing
That you notice come your way
And as the golden words
Of joy form poems
They’ll entwine with the old ones
In a fountain ever-flowing
