Burn in my heart
Pain of old
Simmering shame
In the pit of my soul
A weight heavily borne
It crushes my chest
Sewn to my skin
Lest I forget
I know my flaws
I see them every day
These are not simply things
That can be just wished away
But in my mistakes
He reaches out
His loving kindness
My hardness melts
Through clouded windows
I now see a light
A gift of forgiveness
Won at a heavy price
It snuffs out
My burning shame
My past mistakes
It can erase
More than that
It reshapes me
Returns me to how
I was always meant to be
It can take away
Sin’s every mark
Bring me redemption
A brand new start
This forgiveness flows
From Him into me
Quenching Shame’s fire
And setting me free
Inner Fire
