It has finally hit me
The scale of what I’ve faced
The seriousness of the challenge
The scars that cannot be erased
I had numbed it out
In the day-to-day battle to survive
I had buried that truth
In a dark place inside
But it now washes over me
Like a towering ocean wave
I stumble to the floor
As my knees begin to cave
The scale of my pain
Shakes me to the core
I gasp in shock
As I drop to the floor
I hold out my hands
To the One that I love
I ask for healing
The healing that comes from above
Now as I take a step
Forward into my future
I won’t forget the past
The wounds He sutured
Redemption will come
It is only a matter of time
These scars will soon just be memories
Of a painful time gone by
Shocked By Pain
