A relentless treadmill
Which cannot be stopped
Being punched by a boxer
Who you cannot block
A screaming creature
At every sunrise
Weights strapped to your legs
When you’re paralysed
An emergency alarm blaring
But the help won’t come
An approaching darkness
Heralded by deep bass drums
A bottomless pit
Threatening to swallow you whole
Turns out to be a passing cloud
That eventually moves on
Temporary
