Black Poison

I spit black poison
Out of my mouth
A venomous river
Winding its way south

It’s an overflow
From my tortured heart
Injected with misery
By events so dark

They are harsher than
I truly mean
But I can’t hold back
When I paint this scene

I must let the anger
The bitterness pour out
So I can truly comprehend
What this pain is about

Then I can learn
Forgive when I need to
And pour into the vacuum
God’s healing words of truth

So that fresh water
Can pour from my heart
And so a river of hope
For others, can start
