Dry wells
In the depths of our souls
A deep ache of emptiness
A gaping hole
We’ve filled them up with dirt
And the dryness took hold
The stone has begun to crack
The walls starting to fold
He comes and digs a new well
In the desert of my heart
Salvation marks a new beginning
A fresh new start
Joy bursts out like a fountain
Peace like fresh rain
Gentleness as a soothing stream
Flowing through this parched terrain
Hope causes long-dead flowers
To flourish once again
Love quenches our deep thirst
And heals our inner pain
You can’t stop up this well
You can’t exhaust its supply
Take as much as you need
You never again have to feel dry
Dry Wells
