Shadow

A foul beast
Cleaves to your skin
Whispering and murmuring
About what is within

It speaks of failures
From times gone by
And any light of success
It seeks to undermine

It loves to mock
By copying your gestures
As it fastens itself to
Your every footstep

It is so haunting
But one thing you must know
It has no power
For it is just a shadow
