Mourning

A lament

Everyone tries to
Cheer me up
But I have no one
To mourn my loss

I must swallow the darkness
Hold it in my throat
Smile politely
While I silently choke

My pains are my own
They cannot be shared
They are too much
Even for those who care

So they build up
In the centre of my chest
And spill out onto paper
The only friend I have left
