Dawn & Dusk

A deep sound
Makes the ground quake
It’s the beating of a heart
That’s about to break

It sends shuddering waves
Through the floor
Causes the locks to break
On every door

It causes teeth
To chatter in their jaws
And bones to rattle
In a gruesome applause

It vibrates through
The creaking foundations
And the bricks grind
In indignation

I hold on tight
In a fortress inside
For I know this shaking
Will always subside
