Twisting staircase
Writhes beneath me
Takes me away from
Where I want to be
The steps clatter
As it wiggles and worms
Laughing at me
As it continues to squirm
The handrails wrap around
And squeeze my hands
As I rotate in ways
Even a gymnast could not understand
Finally the staircase
Relents from its spinning
And I find myself
Right back at the beginning
Spiralling
